Sheer for Spring

Spring is finally here! I love winter fashion, but I was beginning to get a little bored and uninspired by the end of the season. It feels great to be able to go outside with less layers on.

For this look, I paired a nude American Apparel crop top with nude, semi-sheer Zara pants, a nude heel, and a denim jacket. There were a ton of sheer looks on the runway last fall, so expect to see more items reflecting that in stores this spring, like these pants. Not sure if crops are still officially on trend this season, but they are definitely a permanent staple in my wardrobe.

This dark-wash denim jacket is perfect to sling on to complete the look and break up some of the monochrome-ness (if you're not into that). Plus, lightweight denim is another big trend for spring.

Winter Dream List

We're deep into winter at this point, and though I know stores are going to start getting all of their spring and summer clothing in stock soon -- there are some winter wear items that I would love to still get my hands on. This is definitely not just a wish list, but a DREAM list, because all of the items in this collage are super high end, but this look could easily be recreated with items from high street stores. I might try to recreate this look with more affordable items before the season is over!

I made this collage with the Villoid app, which is a fashion app launched by Alexa Chung. It allows you to both shop and play around with different items and looks and create collages like this one! You can download it from the Apple App Store and follow me -- if you like -- @jadejarvis.

Grey Lady

I love monochrome looks. As someone who doesn't wear that many bright colors, a lot of my outfits end up following a neutral color palette, much like this one. I felt like some kind of old Hollywood star in this dress/full skirt coat combo, and couldn't resist posing in front of that steaming sidewalk grate.

I've had this coat for years. My mom bought it for me and I absolutely hated it and its been stashed in a closet ever since. But we were recently going through our old coats to give away and I rediscovered it and fell in love. Its so warm and it has such a great silhouette. It can dress up any outfit.

I paired the coat with this grey fit-and-flare dress that I bought during Zara's Black Friday sale. The dress is super simple and fits so well. I already have more ideas of how I can wear it and with which accessories. I finished off the look with nude pumps and simple jewelry. But, since the dress is so plain, you can definitely rock bold jewelry and footwear with it.

Oversized

Well, winter is FINALLY here. Part of me is regretting all the complaints I made during the weirdly warm December we just had, while the other part is glad that I can finally wear the cute winter clothes I have.

I got this beautiful double-breasted brick-colored coat from Zara for Christmas, and its already become one of my favorite pieces in my closet. Double-breasted coats are a huge trend this winter, but I don't think they ever truly go out of style. The cut is always classic and they always manage to make any outfit look sophisticated.

My outfit underneath all of the winter wear is pretty simple -- just a maroon-colored Zara turtleneck and high-waisted black Joni jeans from Topshop. I finished off the look with black, heeled Chelsea boots by Jeffrey Campbell and a thick knit black scarf and gloves. It was SO COLD when we shot this look, but all my layers and the thick material of the coat kept me nice and toasty.

I feel like I should add in something about the New Year. I'm not really into making resolutions because I feel like they always end up broken. But here's to more good health, amazing fashion, and big opportunities in 2016!
